What area do you cover?

I am based in West Lothian and most of my shoots take place within Edinburgh & Lothians. However I am pretty much able to work anywhere in the central belt of Scotland, so out with these areas please feel free to contact me and we can discuss your requirements.

Do you have a studio?

In a nutshell, No! All of my photo shoots take place on location or in the comfort of your own home. I aim to capture natural memories for you and your family in meaningful settings. No intrusive large studio lamps, no artificial plain backdrops. Just you, me, my camera and beautiful natural light. Think fun, think natural and bursting with colour.

What will it cost?

Please see my prices page for the full range of packages I offer. These prices include my time and talent before, during and after the photo shoot to create your beautiful and personal images.

What age is best to have my newborn photographed?

There is no rule here as such. Your baby will change so much and very quickly so each milestone is special and precious in its own way. My suggestion for newborns is to have them photographed within the first two weeks of birth as this is when they are at their tiniest and often most relaxed.

When should we book?

I want to ensure that I provide the best possible service and work for each family I photograph. For this reason I only book a limited number of shoots each month. As a result this can lead to me being booked 6-8 weeks in advance. As soon as you know you want to have a photo shoot, I would suggest getting in contact as soon as possible to arrange a mutually suited date.

When and where will my shoot take place?

The shoot will take place in your home or outside, somewhere you like to spend time as a family. Think funky beach shoots, a walk in the woodlands, the opportunities are endless in the great outdoors. I will also be happy to make some suggestions!

How long will the photo shoot last?

I never set a time on a photo shoot as I will continue to click until I am 100% confident you have enough beautiful images from the day. However I do ask clients to allow 1-2 hours on average. For young or shy children I always allow slightly longer so they can have a break from the camera and enjoy a well deserved snack.

What shall we wear?

It is paramount that you are comfortable and relaxed for the photo shoot so there is no need to dress up for the occasion. I do ask that you consider the colours the family wear to ensure that your outfits compliment each other. Whilst they don't need to match - a good rule to follow is to have colours co-ordinate. Feel free to experiment with layers, patterns, textures and accessories such as hats etc. The only thing I ask families to avoid is any large logos or cartoon characters that may be distracting on the photos.

How should I deal with feeling camera shy?

This is totally normal so please do not worry if you, your partner or children get camera shy. I myself am camera shy, hence why I choose to be behind the camera! I like to spend a bit of time with families getting to know them before taking my camera out of the bag. I keep things very informal and relaxed. You don't even have to look at the camera if you prefer! I want to capture fun, natural and authentic moments. So you can relax and focus on having fun with your family and I will capture it as it happens.

What happens if the weather is bad?

In the lead up to your shoot I will frantically be checking the weather forecast and hoping for a dry day. If it appears to look miserably wet or blowing a gale then we have a few options...

1. Change the location to your home and stay warm and dry

2. Chuck on some welly boots and jump in puddles - Making a feature of it!

3. If you really want to have your shoot outside and would rather reschedule then of course I am happy to do so (please note this rescheduled date will have to fit in around my other bookings).

Please do not worry if the sun is not splitting the skies and the day seems grey and cloudy, overcast skies provide the most beautiful soft light which is hugely flattering.

Can we re-schedule if my child or family member is ill?

Of course! I want to capture your child/family at their best in order to capture happy and joyful images. I am happy to offer one re-schedule free of charge. There after each re-schedule will be subject to a £30 fee on top of your original session fee.

Do you offer re-touching?

All of the photos I take are taken in RAW format and my processing involves simple adjustments such as a boost in colour and contrast - then given my special colour treatments to create timeless memories to cherish forever.

Will I get a USB of my photos?

Yes all of my packages include a personalised USB stick with your photographs with printing rights (referred to as print release) for your own personal use. The USB stick is presented in a beautiful presentation box with all your images ready to upload to your computer for printing and web use for you to share via email and social media sites if you wish.

Will the photos be in colour or black & white?

Your chosen photos will be supplied in both colour and black & white. Your private online gallery will display all images in colour but the USB will have both variations for you to decide which you personally prefer.

Will I own the copyright?

As the Photographer I retain the copyright. (This is standard within the industry). But I do issue you with printing rights with your print release for personal use . Which means you can print unlimited images in any form (photo, canvas, album, t-shirt etc). You can also post on and share on social media sites - In fact I encourage this!

How long will it take to receive my order?

I aim to have your completed order safely with you to enjoy approximately 2 weeks after the photo shoot.
